I am a
professional resume writer and educator living in Halifax, NS. For years I have been helping friends, family
and
co-workers prepare resumés, cover letters and other professional documents. Two years ago, I went
“pro” and developed my first resumé writing workshop, for a group of
nearly 60 summer students working with the provincial government. In 2009, I decided to make the transition from resumé coach to resumé writer. So I created NatalieJoan.ca. I write and edit resumes for local Halifax residents, and also for clients around the world via the internet (a face to face meeting is nice, but not necessary.) To date I have worked with clients in France and Guatemala. I have also delevered resumé and self-reflection workshops with groups such as Katimavik and the Nova Scotia Youth Conservation Corps. Along
with being an experienced resumé coach and writer, I have another
important qualification. I am a resumé reader. In the past 12 years I
have hired countless students, interns,
casual and contract workers, in both non-profit and government
settings. I have sifted through stacks of 100+ resumés to choose 5 interview candidates. I have read resumés until my eyes strained. I’ve been on the other side and I know what employers are looking for. You don’t
